Local Attractions

There is a little secret about India that no one tells you.  Most Indians outside major cities apparently have never seen a white person before.  It is funny because, when I walk around tourist sites in India, packs of teenage boys follow and take pictures of me and to a lesser extent Charlie as though we are the attraction.  (In the areas we have been, I think a lot of the Indian people have been Muslim and so females don't really interact with Charlie, whereas both males and females feel free to interact with me.)  School children on field trips get ridiculously excited and seriously mob.  They all want to shake our hands and know our names.  And it is not just kids.  Adults have thrust their newborn baby into my arms to take a picture.  I have seen from the corner of my eyes grown men sneak pictures when they think I am not looking.  It is making things interesting....  Mostly, people stare with a steely glare that seems to say, "WTF did you just say about my mother?...."  I can't really take the stares and so I wave and say hi, which immediately dissolves the mean-looking stares into incredibly friendly ear-to-ear grins.
