Full Moon Party

On the night of the Fully Moon Party, Charlie and I were fairly convinced it was going to rain. The ominously dark clouds moved in around sunset and it started to drizzle. But miraculously, the rain held off and the party took off.

It is hard to estimate how many people were at the Full Moon Party, but I would guess 15,000 to 20,000. The beach was packed, wall-to-wall with revelers. Most of them were Australian college students, as it is their summer break from school. The numerous enormous speakers placed up and down the beach were deafening and most definitely caused hearing damage. There were not enough toilets and the ocean was full of people - boys and girls - peeing. My favorite part, mostly because it made me laugh, was the row of "bucket" vendors. They are a dime a dozen and so try to distinguish themselves by yelling and having signs with the most profane obscenities possible at passers by. (I am refraining from posting pictures of this, because I am afraid that they would offend most, but I would be happy to share them with you if you are jaded to such things.)

Yep, the Full Moon Party was a sight to behold and a good time. For the record, Charlie and I were not the oldest people on the beach.
